Air conditioning

Air conditioning built for a Humble summer.

RUUD systems sized to the house, not swapped like for like, with the tier that actually keeps up with Gulf coast humidity explained before you buy.

Chapter 01

What actually gives out first in Humble's humidity

A system that blows warm air, short cycles on and off every few minutes, or grows a sheet of ice across the indoor coil is not starting from scratch. It is usually a worn capacitor or contactor that has spent another Humble summer switching a compressor on and off in triple digit heat, or a slow refrigerant leak in a coil that has sat in the attic long enough to earn one. The condenser fan motor outside wears the same way, quietly, until the unit stops moving enough air across the coil to reject the heat it just pulled out of the house.

A lot of what we replace in Humble and Kingwood is twelve to sixteen years old, running at ten SEER or lower in a house that has only gotten harder to cool since it went in. Every degree below 78°F in summer costs three to eight percent more to run, so a house set at 72°F is asking a compressor built for a different decade to work at a pace it was never rated for, every afternoon from May through October.

How we diagnose it, and what goes in

Before anything gets opened up, a technician takes a temperature reading at the return and another at the supply. The gap between the two, the split, says whether the coil is doing its job before a wrench ever touches the unit. From there it is refrigerant pressures, motor volts and amps, and every electrical connection tightened and tested, the same checklist our maintenance visits run twice a year.

What goes in afterward is the RUUD line, installed by technicians working under Texas license TACLA023312C. Every tier we sell, Good, Better or Best, ships with lifetime cabinetry and a louvered coil cover, and the sizing is matched to the actual house, its ductwork and its sun exposure, not to whatever tonnage happened to already be sitting on the pad.

Call 281.540.4822 when the symptoms show up rather than waiting for the afternoon it finally quits. A capacitor caught early is a short fix. The same capacitor ignored through an August heat wave usually takes the compressor down with it.

Chapter 03

Why the tier matters more here than the SEER number

The jump from Good to Better and Best is a two stage scroll compressor, a variable speed or ECM condenser motor, and on demand dehumidification, not just a higher SEER rating on the spec sheet. A two stage system runs longer at a lower speed instead of blasting cold air and shutting off, and that longer, slower run time is what actually pulls humidity out of a house this close to the Gulf. Comfort alert diagnostics on the Better and Best tiers also flag a developing fault before it turns into a Saturday afternoon breakdown.

The warranty reflects that gap too. Good carries a ten year compressor warranty with five years on the remaining parts, while Better and Best both carry ten years on every part. Whichever tier goes in, keeping it on a maintenance schedule is what keeps that warranty and the system's efficiency intact between visits, and the office can walk you through what applies to your equipment when you call.

Good, Better, Best

Aaron Mechanical's own tier sheet

This is the same comparison our office hands a homeowner in Humble deciding between systems, written out in full rather than reduced to a model number.

GoodUp to 16.00 SEER
R410a refrigerant, lifetime cabinetry, a louvered coil cover, a ten year compressor warranty and five years on the remaining parts, with quiet operation built in.
BetterUp to 18.00 SEER
R410a, lifetime cabinetry, a louvered coil cover, ten years on every part, a comfort control system with comfort alert diagnostics, a two stage scroll compressor, on demand dehumidification and a variable speed condenser motor.
BestUp to 20.00 SEER
The same construction as Better, stepped up to an ECM two speed condenser motor for the highest efficiency in the lineup, still under a ten year warranty on every part.

Every tier pairs with an Energy Savings Maintenance Agreement, and Better and Best both work with the smart thermostats we install alongside them. If it is a packaged unit on a roof rather than a house system, that is covered on our commercial page. Financing runs through our financing page, and the coverage on cabinetry, air balance and the compressor itself is spelled out on our guarantees page.
