A thermostat is the cheapest part of the system to get wrong
RUUD EcoNet, Honeywell Home, Emerson Sensi Touch and Google Nest, installed and set up right the first time across Humble, Kingwood and north Houston.
Chapter 01
The setting matters more than the brand
A smart thermostat does not lower a power bill by itself. It lowers one when it is set correctly and left there. Aaron Mechanical's own published guidance is 78 degrees in summer and 70 in winter, because every degree away from that setpoint runs the system 3 to 8 percent harder, and that adds up fast across a Humble summer.
The other setting people get wrong is the fan. Leaving it on the auto setting rather than on gives the system better control over humidity, since a fan that keeps running after the compressor shuts off just blows moisture that already condensed on the coil back into the house.

Four brands, one install standard
We install and set up RUUD EcoNet, Honeywell Home, Emerson Sensi Touch and Google Nest. All four handle auto scheduling and app control, so the choice usually comes down to which app a homeowner already prefers or which brand matches the rest of the system.
RUUD EcoNet and Google Nest go a step further with energy history reporting, which is the closest either brand comes to actually showing you the setting that is quietly costing money every month, rather than just letting you set a schedule and hope.
Chapter 03
Why a proper install still matters on a smart thermostat
A Wi-Fi thermostat still has to be wired into the same low voltage terminals as the old one, and a mismatched wire or a system it was never designed for is exactly what turns a smart upgrade into a callback. Our technicians confirm the equipment it is paired with before anything goes on the wall, the same way we do on a full system changeout.
A thermostat swap is a small job next to a rooftop changeout, but it gets the same technicians and the same license, TACLA023312C, behind it.

What we install
Four brands we actually stock and set up
RUUD EcoNet
Auto scheduling, full app control, energy history reports and efficiency settings, on the same brand behind most of the equipment we install.
Honeywell Home
The WiFi Smart Color Thermostat, run through the Total Connect Comfort app, with humidity monitoring and safety, comfort and energy email alerts.
Emerson Sensi Touch
Wi-Fi connected, available in black, white or silver finishes, built around energy savings and a stated data privacy focus.
Google Nest
Auto scheduling, app control and energy history, with the familiar leaf style efficiency settings.
A thermostat pairs best with the system it is actually running. See what we install on the air conditioning and heating pages, ask about a maintenance agreement to keep the whole system tuned, or contact the office to schedule an install.
